I don't paint in oil any more but from what I knew you mix the medium with your paints while painting not put it on afterward. You should ask the oil painters. there might be a thread on this already. I also know some would use hair dryer to helps the painting dry faster.

Sorry...if the paint underneath the quickly dried outer area, then the outer area will crack....

Really! Doesn't it make the paint crack, if the surface crack if the paint underneath is not properly dry?

Maria, there is fast drying medium you could add to your oil paints.

So fresh! Just started working on a flower painting, first in a while! had forgotten how long I have to wait for oil to dry between layers! Should get a watercolour going too so that i don't lose the active pace.
