Description
The Beihai Park was built in the 10th century as the imperial gardens which has an area of more than 69 hectares witj a lake that coveres more than half of the entire park.. It was built to imitate renowned scenic spots and architecture from various regions of China. It contains numerous historically important structures, palaces and temples.
After the revoulation in 1925 the place has been open to the public as a park. Beihai literally means "Northern Sea" A local artist friend took us there one day to do some sketching, before long there was a large crowd watching us. There were so many breathtaking scenery I end up gave up sketching and taking photos instead. Here is my first painting from the Baihai Park

I love the shadow patterns and muted colors in this quiet nautical watercolor. Congratulations on your 2nd place win in the recent Let's Go Boating contest.
